 WHO IS monica?
Monica Lee Copeland is the Host and Executive Director of Indelible Ink: a Vanguard Performance Art Series. Copeland writes in the business world and creatively. An early instigator in the SLAM Poetry Movement founded by legendary SLAM daddy Marc Smith, she won seats on four National SLAM Poetry competition teams and in 1997 was the 6th ranking individual nationally. Copeland has performed throughout the US and abroad including the Opening of Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art, Lollapalooza and participation in a United Kingdom tour sponsored by John O'Neil's Farrago Poetry Company. The author of Back to Concrete, a chap book based on a one-woman show produced by Hyphen magazine, Chicago, IL, she is currently completing a new book of poetry and working on a novel.
Monica owns a boutique marketing firm that provides communications, fundraising and event planning services. Her firm produced the charitable release party for ‘Crash’ the movie, as well as galas for the Pasadena Pops Orchestra and Kid Save International. Previously, Monica served Aegon’s US advertising unit, where she provided marketing management for a Transamerica retirement services product. As a member of a consulting leadership team, she helped transform a subsidiary of Boys Town into a for-profit concern. Copeland also managed a cause-marketing portfolio for D.A.R.E, Inc, the for-profit subsidiary of D.A.R.E. America Worldwide. A graduate of Northwestern University, she devotes time to the Pasadena Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Agape International Spiritual Center. Monica resides in Pasadena with her husband Doug Huberman and their two children.
RUNNING ink
Indelible Ink has a dedicated working board that provides administrative oversight. It is chaired by Hazel Harrison. Joao Huang Anacleto, Project Manager of GLC Enterprises serves as Treasurer. Additional members of the board include: Monica Lee Copeland, MLC & Company; Kate Gale, Red Hen Press; Justin Kibbe, THE Magazine; Tammy Huang-Anacleto, College Launch; and Chris Wesley.
Day to day operations of ink are facilitated by Monica Lee Copeland, Executive Director and Pamela Morgan, Ink Spot Coordinator.
